Background

Q: Can you tell us about your professional background?

Alex: I’ve spent about 10 years in supply chain and logistics, primarily in Charleston, South Carolina. I studied supply chain at the University of South Carolina and have worked in roles ranging from supply chain analytics to operations management.

Most recently, I managed warehouses for companies like Bosch and a local beverage distributor. That experience gave me a strong operational background and a solid network in the local market, which I’ve been able to leverage in building my business.

Why World Options

Q: What made you choose World Options?

Alex: I knew I wanted to start something of my own, but I also knew what I didn’t want—owning a warehouse and being tied to it 24/7. In my previous roles, I dealt with long hours, staffing challenges, and situations where I had to be on-site no matter what.

World Options offered a way to stay in the logistics industry while gaining flexibility. The model gave me back-office support, a roadmap to follow, and the ability to build a business remotely. It felt like a smart way to transition into ownership without taking on the full operational burden of a warehouse.

Day-to-Day Operations

Q: What does your typical day look like?

Alex: There’s a good amount of variety. In the mornings, I’ll often focus on prospecting—whether that’s email outreach, LinkedIn, cold calling, or even meeting people in person.

Throughout the day, I’m quoting freight, coordinating shipments, and communicating with clients. Some weeks are heavier operationally—like when I’m onboarding new clients or managing multiple shipments with specific requirements.

I also try to stay consistent with business development by dedicating time each day to outreach and keeping my pipeline organized.

Work-Life Balance

Q: How has your work-life balance changed?

Alex: It’s significantly better. Outside of the operational requirements I can prospect or organize in the evenings or mornings if necessary. I make sure I am always available for my clients which are often in different time zones but I am also able to do so remotely which provides flexibility.

In my previous role I was constantly dealing with staffing issues and operational fires. Now, I still work hard, but I have control over my schedule and can be present for my family. That flexibility was a big driver in making the change.

Advice for Prospective Owners

Q: What advice would you give to someone considering a World Options franchise?

Alex: Be prepared for the sales side of the business. That means having a lot of conversations—cold calls, outreach, and client updates, both good and bad.

Success comes down to consistency and being willing to refine your approach. The more you structure your process and focus on what’s working, the faster you’ll see results.

It also helps to either have a network you can tap into or the willingness to build one through persistent outreach. If you stay disciplined and keep going, it can really pay off.
